Half Court Scramble

DRILL: Half Court Scramble

I have always wanted to pressure teams. I have always wanted to play and coach the game differently. To me, pressure is fun! Running is fun! Making your opponent sweat is fun. Developing a NO FEAR team is fun! Playing more kids is fun! And yes, winning is fun! But if you don’t win, can’t you still walk off the court with satisfaction?

The Run and Jump Press is fun! Half court pressure is fun! The Half Court Scramble complements the Run and Jump Press. Below you will find the drill progressions for teaching different Half Court Scramble trapping techniques, rotations, positions, and fundamentals.

Teams competing against the Run and Jump Press want to rest in the half court.  Teams with the lead late in the half or game want to hold the ball. The Half Court Scramble will not allow it and continues to stress and punish your opponents. Yes, it is true. You will accept MORE RISK in the Half Court Scramble than you do in the full court Run and Jump Press! I have always promoted the importance of being a team that is UNPREDICTABLE! When you Half Court Scramble and how you Half Court Scramble is up to you, however preparing to Half Court Scramble is an absolute MUST! Should you want to explore the Half Court Scramble further feel free to give me a shout!
