Versatility Makes the Run & Jump Press Great

When Motion Offense entered the basketball world, coaches were excited with a
system that allowed their players to read the defense, attack weaknesses, and
inject freedom into the offensive game plan. What is positively exciting about the
Run & Jump Press, is the same concepts that enable players to recognize turnover
opportunities and the ability to ADJUST on the fly during the game. As all if you
know, coaching in competitive games is an ongoing CHESS MATCH! What can
YOU DO as a coach to swing momentum your way that will help secure a victory?
You have DONE your work in practice, continually emphasizing the principles of
rotation, angles of attack, protection of the basket, and winning the foul battle.
Currently I am watching (10) High School teams that use the Run & Jump Press and each
team brings some diverse set of actions to the court. This variety of pressing
movement, demonstrates the versatility of the Run & Jump Press System. I get
communication each week from coaches on different ways to handle a specific
press breaker. They offer a couple of viable solutions and I always say YES to
multiple options and offer a few of my own. Once again, keeping the Run & Jump
Press
simple, unpredictable, and breaking down your opponents’ attack is what
you utilize adjustments for. As this is a FORMATION man to man press, below
you will see a few easy adjustment calls that can be utilized.

Just like Motion Offense, the adjustments are endless. Every adjustment rotates into the MM Run & Jump Press. You are just giving your opponents’ some “different looks and rotations,” so they do not get comfortable.

UNCOMFORTABLE = POOR OFFENSE = MISSED SHOTS = TURNOVERS
