Chaos and Fatigue

Coaches – Let’s MAKE SURE we are ALL on the “same page.”  We are in the CHAOS and FATIGUE business.  That is-

WHAT WE DO and WHO WE ARE!

If you’re not there yet, let’s make sure you are working in that direction.  Take the chains off the kids and LET’S GO!!

Having too much fun running the past (52) camps in 2018, I keep wanting to make sure all coaches and players understand what we are trying to accomplish.   In the camps, we are teaching kids how to

  • RUN and NOT FOUL!
  • TRAP and NOT FOUL!
  • PRESSURE and NOT FOUL!
  • SQUEEZE and NOT FOUL!
  • ROTATE and NOT FOUL!
  • ATTACK and NOT FOUL!
  • PINCH and NOT FOUL!
  • STEER and NOT FOUL!

I think you get the point.  Fouling is absolutely, positively UNACCEPTABLE!   Also, one of the phrases you might notice we don’t like using is CUT the ball handler OFF.  YES of course we are cutting off when trapping however, I like to say SQUEEZE or PINCH the ball handlers into the lines as it is more indicative of what we want.  When I hear the words CUT OFF, I envision Mr. Official with a tough BLOCK/CHARGE call and too many going against us.  I like to teach staying sideways to the ball handler as you run and pinch with two arms up as we have instructed in camp.

So COACHES…………………  LET’S GOOOOOOOOO!!   Don’t let these opponents slow you down and take away your power.  Find ways to keep speeding them up and STRESSING them out.

AND HAVE FUN DOING IT!!!
